Also known as: Kountoura Aspri, Sakeiko, Stamatiano, Perachoritiko

A white variety which is cultivated chiefly in the Prefectures of Attica, Viotia, and Evvia, and to a smaller extent in the Cyclades, Western Crete, the Peloponnese, and Macedonia.

Its grapes are of medium size, of a yellowish-white colour with soft, sweet flesh, and 2 - 3 seeds.

It is capable of adapting to different types of soil, but produces the best results on dry lime soils of average fertility. Its harvest starts in the second half of August and is completed by 15 September.

The Appellation of Origin of Superior Quality (OPAP) Anchialos wine (together with Roditis), a number of Local Wines (Anavyssiotikos, Geranion, Karystinos, etc.), Retsinas, and Table Wines are produced from Savvatiano.

Savvatiano is a variety which is not fully appreciated. When it is cultivated correctly, is not overloaded, is harvested at the peak of its ripeness, and by the use of modern wine-making techniques, it can yield balanced, fatty wines with fruity aromas. They are a good accompaniment to most everyday dishes, and go remarkably well with fish and seafood.

Our company harvests Savvatiano in the Anavyssos area in late August ? early September, and its contributes to Strofilia White.
